Day 16 & 17: Travel home!

Day 16 we had a yummy lunch at Faze3, a trendy little restaurant right on beautiful Lake Victoria and not too far from the airport. It was a nice day so we decided to sit outside on the back patio. Just as our food was being delivered...

We noticed a strange looking "cloud" off in the distance...

Some Americans were there eating & we overheard them saying, "Well look there! You don't want to be outside when that hits!" Turns out that "cloud" was a HUGE swarm of FLIES!!!

And within minutes they were making landfall! We all ran inside the restaurant & the workers shut all the windows and doors in a flash! You could tell they have done this many times before! Amazingly only some got inside. That was the most crazy site ever! The flies were so thick and it lasted for several hours. We just hung out at the restaurant until they were finally almost gone. Funny - if you do a google search for "swarm of flies Uganda Lake Victoria", it will display tons of links about how they are cooked in burgers. Thanks but no thanks ;-)

Here we are safe inside and happy to be away from the flies!

Later that night, it was time to head HOME! We had such an amazing trip and we were all so thankful to have had the opportunity to travel to Uganda but we were also reeeeeally missing our families and our own beds. Here is our last picture together before parting ways - Sonya flew from D.C.  to Maine. It was so great to get to know her and we loved having her on our trip! Funny how God brought us all together...

And more journey home pics...

Busted AGAIN!!! ;-)

Making new friends

Godiva Chocolates in Belgium!

Made it to America and eating American food - salad and hamburgers never tasted so good!!!

Last leg home! We were a little delirious at this point...

Aaaaah - home at last!

So grateful to have gone on this amazing trip with friends and can't wait to go back again - hopefully soon!
